The Standard Response Protocol - Higher Ed

Historically, institutions have taken this scenario-based approach to respond to hazards and threats. It's not uncommon to find a stapled sheaf of papers or even a tabbed binder in a desk that describes a variety of things that might happen and the specific response to each event.

This version of our flagship program, the Standard Response Protocol SRP focuses on staff training to address the issue of having occupants who may not be familiar with the SRP. The premise is simple - there are four specific actions that can be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the action is labeled with a "Term of Art" and is then followed by a "Directive.

The benefits of the SRP become quickly apparent. By standardizing the vocabulary, all stakeholders can understand the response and status of the event. This common language is being taught to millions of students in the US and Canada.

As these students enter the workforce or are in non school environments, having the same language and expectations provides a more conditioned response. Additionally, this protocol enables rapid response determination when an unforeseen event occurs.

The protocol also allows for a more predictable series of actions as an event unfolds. An intruder event may start as a Lockdown, but as the intruder is isolated, first responders might transition parts of the building to an Evacuation. National SRP Dashboard.

Her district had some rather stringent printing policies. And, all of this color material would make her superintendent grumpy. We also had requests for printed posters, handouts and other materials. Well, the last thing we wanted to do is print, inventory, fulfill, and ship books or posters. But we found a way. There is an Amazon subsidiary called CreateSpace that does on-demand printing. And the books are available on Amazon. For the other printed materials we use Mimeo. There's even an option to customize some the materials.

Again, you do not need to purchase books or materials, in order to use the programs. The printed material is generated using the same PDFs we offer online. We also hear from schools and organizations, who like our programs and philosophies, "What can we do to support The Foundation?

Over time, this has added up to a fun little piece of change, but it's not our intention, nor is it the reality, to fund the organization through book sales. Like we've said, "Just download the materials and print them yourselves. But, if you are interested in purchasing in bulk, we can save you some money. The Standard Response Protocol - K12

Cortland, NY Department Directory. Randall Middle School 31 Randall St. Cortland, NY The Standard Response Protocol is a series of steps and responses of what schools can do when a crisis happens. Rapidly training students and teachers the common language of the Standard Response Protocol allows for a general understanding of what to do in four different situations: lockout, lockdown, evacuate and shelter.

A critical component of school safety is the classroom response. Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff and administration. The SRPx is based on these five actions.

District staff and administrators are all being trained in the SRP, as will students. The premise is simple - there are specific actions that can be performed during an incident:. Lockout is followed by the directive: "Secure the Perimeter," and is the protocol used to safeguard students and staff within the building. Lockdown is followed by "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight" and is the protocol used to secure individual rooms and keep students quiet and in place.

The Standard Response Protocol - BIZ

By Mary Kate McGrath. Across the United States, establishing a standardized protocol for active assailant and other emergency situations is becoming a powerful safety strategy in K12 settings. The "I Love You Guys" school safety protocol is one being used in Colorado, and can integrate with other school safety technology such as a panic button app. Response training is becoming increasingly common in a variety of settings, including higher education institutions, private organizations, and healthcare facilities. However, finding a response strategy which is a good fit for K12 can prove more difficult, as it must consider a variety of emergency situations, including severe weather, and consider the best way to address these risks for teachers and students.

If an emergency happens at a school or an office, there usually is not much time to warn students, employees and guests about what is happening or what to do. Unlike previous emergency plans developed by the District, SRP is not based on individual scenarios, but rather on the response to any given scenario. All sites must plan, coordinate, exercise, and respond accordingly to potential incidents that threaten their students, staff, and facilities. To assist site administrators, Douglas County School District utilizes a system called Standard Response Protocol SRP to guide administrators, staff, classrooms, and individual students through standardized responses regardless of the threat.

Departments

First of all, thank you for an excellent and enjoyable day. With 40 years in law enforcement, disaster, and safety work, I have been through literally thousands of hours of in-service and CE courses over the years. Yours ranks in the top ten of any I have ever participated in. It was informative, moved fast, had good visuals, and spoke "to" the audience, and not "at" the audience.

We will incorporate this change into all of our resources and toolkits over the next several months. The K Standard Response Protocol SRP Toolkit offers guidance and resources for incorporating the Standard Response Protocol into a school safety plan, for critical incident response within individual schools in a school district. The intent of this toolkit is to provide basic guidance with respect for local conditions and authorities. The only mandate presented is that districts, agencies and departments retain the "Terms of Art" and "Directives" defined by this protocol. SRP is not a replacement for any school safety plan or program. It is simply a classroom response enhancement for critical incidents, designed to provide consistent, clear, shared language and actions among all students, staff and first responders.

Henri Frederic Amiel. Today we feel called upon to put to use this core competency in the new context of COVID as many of our stakeholders deal with shutdowns, delays, meal distribution needs, and more. As we manage emerging practices for students and staff currently out of school, the "I Love U Guys" Foundation has created the Standard Distribution Method for distributing food and learning materials. Ideally these tools can help schools and districts share meals and learning tools while practicing social distancing or quarantine. Engage on social media here:.
